UPN PASBL: Peridot VS. Handymankg2
Yola, and welcome along to the latest battle in the PASBL, between a regular and someone new, should be fun. Let's check the stats:

So yeah, I know Handy from various things, used to reffing for him by now. All I know about Peridot is that it's my girlfriend's fave jewel. Lawn arena, normal, blah, blah, blah.

Dragon Dance to avoid attraciton as you won't hear/see. Follow with a dodge. Agility if necessary.

Round 1: Attractive Dancing
A Solrock spins cautiosly in midair, keeping his large red eyes on the move as he scans the lawn, searching for his target. However, his mark finds him as a Houndour leaps onto Ra's back, gleefully yapping as he gets a free ride. Not really chuffed with this, the Solrock spins on his axis, throwing Harbinger away from him. The Fire-type skulks away back to the reffing position, the meteorite slowly following to circle around us, while Sally sighs somewhat at their antics, the Quagsire having been sat at my feet the whole time. She gives me a nudge, at which point I look up, seeing that today's combatants have arrived. On one side is a newcomer to battling, Peridot, whose skill we'll be having a look at today. On the other side is a regular to the ASBL, with just a little more swagger in his step at having hit TL3, Handy. Let's see how this experienced battler fares against the newbie. Having checked each other's squads, Handy releases a new member to his team, a nicknameless Dratini of the Male persuasion. Peridot counters with his designated level-up, a female Marshtomp named Mudkip, not a confusing nickname at all. The two eye each other from across the field, assessing each others strength. With orders issued, Sally launches a Mud Bomb up over the lawn, which Ra easily detonates with a Psychic blast, the shower of mud signalling the start of this battle!

Mudkip starts by going on the offensive with a flirtacious twist, trying to Attract the serpent with her feminine wiles. The Dragon-type doesn't even see, however, spinning in a mystic way, doing that special Dance that only Dragons seem to be good at.

Somewhat irked by that tactic failing, Mudkip launches an Ice Beam at her foe, but with Dratini's boosted speed, he easily escapes the cold attack, though the chill does make him uncomfortable.

Neither Pokémon took damage that round, both on perfect health.

Mudkip used decent energy, a fair way from perfect, with Ice at about 3/4. Dratini used light energy, just off perfect.

Dratini has a Dragon Dance boost, increasing his speed.

The two are about 4 metres/12 feet apart.

Immediate Dragon Rush with your priority and such, and then close range Supersonic. If you see an ice move being launched your way, replace Supersonic with a Dodge.

Try to Agility out of the way if he comes in for a Dragon Rush, then another Agility if he still comes in for the Supersonic. If he doesn't, FC Water Pulse.

Round 2: Trippin' balls
Just a note, Water Pulse doesn't have a charge time, that's just for Hyper Beam, Shadow Ball and Focus Punch. Water Pulse, however, does come in an Orb form and a Wave form, the former having a confusion chance but the latter having wider spread.

With his speed boost, Dratini Rushes in toward his foe, turquoise Dragon energy coating his body as he does so. Mudkip moves to Agility out of the way, but the speedy dragon is too fast, catching up with her instantly and slamming into her for good damage.

Dratini now issues a load of Supersonic noise, which gets inside the Water-type's head, addling her brain in confusion. Seeing stars, Mudkip just about manages to remember orders, firing a Water Pulse at the serpent, and the Dratini gets a taste of his own medicine, confused in return by the attack.

Mudkip took a solid hit, a good way from perfect. Dratini took a decent, but resisted, hit, just off perfect.

Mudkip used fair energy, a decent way from perfect. Dratini used good energy, on the road to 3/4 already, but not there yet.

Dratini still has that speed boost. Both Pokémon are confused, and will remain so until either knocked out of it or the RNG says so.

They're close-up, about 2 metres/6 feet apart.

Okay, look at the little blue dragon serpent. It's called a Dratini! We're going to make it faint, m'kay?

Try to startle it by shooting some Mud at it. Aim for the head, so it can't see. After that, if the Dratini comes for you, Agility out of the way. Otherwise, Ice Beam the Dratini.

If you see the mud shot coming towards, Agility out of the way, as otherwise it will hurt. Then, try your best to Slam Mudkip, 'kay?

Round 3: Trippin' balls
Been out of town, had a TA post, sorry.

Even with that pep-talk from her trainer, Mudkip's vision is filled with members her unevolved form rushing around saying 'Mudkiiiip. Mudkip? Mudkiiiip. Mudkip?' blah blah, you get the picture. Anyways, she's so addled, that she completely forgets about the Mud Shot she was supposed to do. Meanwhile, Dratini manages to shake off the confusion, but seeing no attack from his opponent, he makes no attempt to Agility out of the way.

The little serpent now slithers across to the mudskipper. Mudkip sees this, and this snaps her out of it, moving to use her own Agility to get out of the way, but her slow reactions, as well as Dratini's overall speed, mean that she still gets Slammed by the tail of the little beastie.

Mudkip took a decent hit, a bit further from perfect. Dratini took no damage, still just off perfect.

Mudkip very little energy, a little further from perfect. Dratini used fair energy, now at 3/4 overall.

Dratini still has that speed boost. The confusion has been knocked out of both of them.

They're still in close quarters, about 2 metres/6 feet apart.

Close ranged Water Pulse (orb) then take a breather. If you see any ice attacks come your way, agility instead of a breather.

Round 4: Pulsin' all over the place
Dratini now charges a fires another Water Pulse at the mudskipper, and the Water-type uses a burst of Agility to skedaddle, though takes a clip of damage on the caudal fin due to the proximity.

The landfish now chargers her own Water Pulse, which hits Dratini for fair, yet resisted damage. No ice attacks used, Dratini just takes a breather.

Mudkip took a light hit, getting further to 3/4 overall. Dratini a good, but resisted hit, now slightly further from perfect.

Mudkip very slight energy, further on from from perfect. Dratini used light energy, now just under 3/4 overall. Water at 3/4.

Dratini still has that speed boost.

They're still up-close, about 2 metres/6 feet apart.

Back away and wait for him. Ice Beam if he comes for you. Otherwise, take a quick rest/breather.

Don't come for him. Stay exactly where you are as you FC Hyper Beam, and have a nice Rest afterwards, try and wake up at the start of next round.

Round 5: SHOOP-DA-Muuuuuuuudkiiiiiiiip....
Obeying orders, Mudkip backs off from her serpentine foe, waiting to see if he moves toward her. He doesn't, instead charging an orange orb of Hyper energy in his mouth, which he continues to do for several seconds. Not liking the look of this at all, and not being as stupid as her prevolution, Mudkip starts to get outta the way, so that when the Beam is finally launched, she's a moving target, though she still takes a good portion of the attack.

Knackered from that, Dratini settles down for a Rest, restoring the energy he just used.

Mudkip took heavy damage, now down to just above 1/2. Dratini took no damage, same as last round.

Mudkip used a little energy dodging, a bit under last round. Dratini used huge energy, just above 1/2 overall, but is restoring some.

Dratini is asleep and will be until about halfway through next round unless awoken. Still has that speed boost.

They're about 4 metres/12 feet apart.

Round 6: Zzzzzzzzzzz.... mongoose....
The sleeping serpent starts Talking in his Sleep, which prompts the ref to set the RNG to select one of the 73 moves that Dratini can learn. Seventy-three. Meanwhile, Mudkip charges up some Ice energy, which she launches in a Beam. But it seems luck is in order, rolling 53 on Dave's Dratini Move List, which is...

Murmuring slightly, Dratini's eyes glow behind their lids, and a Light Screen erects itself in front of him, gobbling up the freezing energy.

Dratini now wakes from his refreshing nap, blinking as he sees the protective wall in front of him. His opponent now takes the chance to offer him a wake-up call, firing a howling Blizzard at the wee dragon. The Light Screen groans and shatters after aborbing a decent chunk of the attack, the rest of the maelstrom hitting Dratini for chilling damage. Now definately woken up, Dratini coats his body with that familiar turquoise glow, before charging in for another Dragon Rush attack, smacking Mudkip back somewhat.

Mudkip took decent damage, finding herself just below 1/2 now. Dratini took a strong hit, now down to the 2/3 marker.

Mudkip used a load of dodging, now just below 2/3 overall. Ice energy is almost gone, enough for an Icy Wind, Ice Punch or half-strength Ice Beam. Dratini restored a good chunk of energy, but burned most of it up again, back down to just above 1/2. Psychic is at 1/2.

Dratini's speed boost is fading.

They're about 3 metres/9 feet apart.
