There's a lot of Nuzlocking going on, and I figured we'd want to keep the TO uncluttered from all teh updates. Now, we can have fun here and leave the TO alone to be cluttered some other way.

But mostly it was because I kept losing track of the people who said they wanted in.

Wait, you guys know all the rules of Nuzlocke Runs don't you?

ONE pokemon per route
If A pokemon faints you can't use it no more
If you run out of pokemon then your Run is over
Name your pokemon a cool name

The rules depend on the player. See: this chart. (http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/3483/1269893749258.png) There is no one universal "Nuzlocke."

Seeing as I can't seem to split my videos into youtube sized chunks without destroying the audio completely, I'll just write for now.

I started off with Terrance the Tepig, and nearly lost the entire thing a few moments later when Cheren's Oshawott got two criticals. Shortly after, we were joined by Steadwell the Lilipup and Mac the Patrat. Later, at the dreamyard, Costello the Pansage joined the team, and the combined effort of Mac and Costello easily defeated Cress in the gym. Headed west and caught Josef the Blitzle on route 3 (yes, I'm a bad person) and MickJagger the Roggenrola in Wellspring cave.

Pinwheel forest, however, has not been kind to me. First, I catch a Tympole (whose line I strongly dislike and almost certainly won't use). Then, a crit from the Nurse's level 15 Munna fells Costello in a single blow (probably my favourite teammate at that point, too), and later a critical hit from a Battle Girl's Timburr fells Josef (which scuppers my plan of having him paralyse with thunderwave then volt switch to pass agility boosts). Thus, I'm left with Pustoad the Tympole (who I'm still not using), MickJagger the Roggenrola, Terrance the Tepig, Mac the Patrat and Steadwell the Lilipup, who I'm going to train up to level 15/16 back on route 3 before attempting the gym. Thankfully, the two pokemon I'll really want for the next two gyms are still alive, but it's small comfort having lost one of my favourite gen v pokemon and another that I had big late game plans for.

EDIT the first: Terrance fell to a critical hit from Lenora's Herdier's take down. FFFFF.

EDIT the second: And another critical hit takes out Steadwell. Fucking criticals everywhere! MickJagger won me the fight, but now I'm left with just Mac the Patrat and MickJagger the Roggenrola, and am seriously considering busting out the Tympole I caught earlier purely to bolster numbers.

Where did you find this? Because I saw a Youtube video of someone playing it, and it looks hilarious.

The one where it drops the f-bomb every time you open the bag or get an item, right? Good stuff man.

Also my Nuzlocke is almost done, just grinding and then E4 to beat.

Mac the Patrat fell quickly in Pinwheel Forest to yet another critical hit (I should really start expecting those at all times and planning accordingly). Managed to get through the forest with Roggenrola alone, then quickly bypassed everything else to hit route 4 and managed to catch myself a Darumaka (named Zenjitsu). At first I was kinda pleased with this until I realised it meant that I had two water weak pokemon and Cheren had Dewott ;;. I reluctantly bought Tympole out of the PC, and after defeating Burgh I headed north. Somehow, a single critical hit from a resisted razor shell is enough to kill a Tympole two levels above the Dewott from full health. Who'd have thunk. Managed to beat Cheren though, and forged ahead on a catching spree.

Upon reaching Desert Resort;

Wild Scraggy appeared!
"Yay!"
Darumaka used facade! Critical hit! Wild Scraggy fainted!

Relic Castle was a bit kinder to me and I caught Gogzilla the Sandile, and routes 16 and 5 yielded Clouseau the Liepard and Cuddles the Minccino respectively. With the team ranging from level 19-25, I intend to go back and deal with all the trainers I deliberately skipped for this purpose in the Castelia City-Nimbasa City region and do anything else I possibly can before attempting the gym, because I remember Elesa being a total cow. At least I have Sandile. Once trained up I'll probably leave one of them in the PC as a backup agains the possibility of a wipe. I seem to recall that Elesa is as far as Elsie got when attempting to nuzlocke White the first time he played it (may have been someone else but I think it was Elsie). Hopefully with the advantage of having played the damn thing once before I'll get further. Once through the gym, my plan is to get to Driftveil Bridge/Cold Storage/Route 6 as fast as possible, skipping as much as possible en route, and pick up three new pokemon. On top of my current five, that'll give me enough to take a team of four or five around with me and keep a backup team in case of emergencies and to freely rotate as my needs change.

EDIT the first: And Cuddles dies almost instantly. Great. FUCKING CRITICAL HITS especially wtfing at that one because the previous mega drain did 16 damage and this critical one did at least 45.

EDIT the second: Is it just me, or is the critical hit rate in this game really fucking high? Lost Sandile to a critical Aerial Ace from one of Elesa's Emolgas (from full health, three levels above), then lost Boldore to a critical volt switch from the other Emolga (this last one was admittedly my fault, I was one attack from victory so threw caution to the winds). But still, I'd still have every pokemon I've so far lost but for critical hits. I am really fucking annoyed, particularly about the loss of Boldore who was a grade A badass, and am once more down to two pokemon (Liepard and Darumaka). They're at level 26 and 27 respectively now so going to go train them both up to level 30, kill Cheren, skip ahead to pick up three new pokemon then train those to catch up to level 30 before I even think about trying to carry on with the plot (which iirc involves more Plasma around the next city before the gym leader).

Levelgrinding again. Managed to get Nature Power on PG, and evolve Pengyzu. A lot of people have to wait for their slot...

The Nuzlocke I'm doing requires someone to ask for a position on the team as a certain Pokemon, hence the Pengyzu Mudkip and the Blaze Lileep. Since nobody has asked for Shroomish, I unfortunately was not able to get one. Others' might be completely different, such as Talon's more conventional basic definition.

Rejoice, for all of my 'mons have survived thus far! We are now going to attempt to challenge the Gym. Because it's there. Kusari, I'm counting on you.

Oh, and I managed to deliver the letter without Flash XD I'm so naughtynaughtynaughty!

Also we must mourn. PokeHunter the Electrike succumbed to Uproar from a Breeder's Whismur. Copygoo and PikaGod very nearly fell as well, but Pengyzu is good at absorbing those finishing hits and nobody else was lost.

Hi I'm Handy and I'm doing a nuzlocke because all my friends are playing Firered so I am too wooooo.

I felt literaturey so I named myself Will and my rival Charlie. Perhaps the two most well known British writers of olden times set off on our journey of nuzlocky awesomeness. I did all that the Professor Oak asked, and was granted pokeballs. With them, I caught my second companion, Viola the Pidgey. I trained for a while, and captured two more friends, Costard and Octavian. And then, we headed into Viridian Forest and met Ophelia. Training lasted a while, before we had our first trainer battle. It ended with a poisoned Viola. My heart sank. She died before we could reach A&E. The first casualty.

From there, we headed forth with vengeance, killing every Pokemon in our path. We purposely avoided our Rival, as we knew of his advantage over us. Finally, we came upon Brock, and with a surge of strength, annihilated him. He was light-years away from us. We proceeded into the next route, wreaked havoc and crying lasses in our path, and caught Portia, who joined the team. Finally, we snuck into Mount Moon, capturing LadyMcbeth who is cursed by her name length.

I am currently debating over whether I should buy Magikarp and what that would actually mean Nuzlocke wise.

Started Nuzlocke on Fire Red yesterday. Playing with the following rules:
-Normal rules
-Duplicates can be skipped if you've already caught them
-Black out/white out is game over for good
-Keeping in line with new standards, fainting outside of battle due to poison does not "kill" the Pokemon afflicted.

Nuzlocke Journal, Day 1

Started my journey. After much deliberating, I decided to go with Squirtle over Charmander simply because Squirtle is the coolest guy ever. So we set off on our journey, delivered Oaks parcel, got the town map, and beat my rival's Bulbasaur into oblivion. We carried on over to Viridian, and on the way, I ran into my first capture, being Rattata. Caught at Lvl 3, I nicknamed her 'Shorts' because they're comfy and easy to wear. I headed on over to Route 2 where I befriended a Pidgey which I named 'Speed', due to the Pidgey line's ability to fly at speeds up to mach 6, and since Speed Racer drove the Mach 5, I knew what had to be done.

We did some minor training in the Viridian Forest, and ran into my eventual only capture of the forest. The bad news, it was a Weedle. The good news, Beedrill is a Pokemon I like but have unintentionally ignored altogether for the longest time. So after giving her the nickname of Fallus for obvious reasons and because missepelling words is the in thing to do, we moved on to more training and were able to take down two trainers with ease.

We headed back south to Route 22, where we ran into a Mankey who looked like she really wanted to be caught. I happily obliged to that request... by unintentionally killing her. The bitch had it coming, though, as the youngest member of the team was also the first to fall. Midway through our battle, Fallus was brutally murdered when Mankey managed to land a critical hit, breaking the fragile Weedle. Even if it was accidentally, I made damn sure she was avenged.

And then I was mad that I didn't get a fucking Mankey.

We headed back up to Viridian Forest to train some more...

Notable events-
Started journey with Squirtle.
Caught Rattata, Pidgey, and Weedle.
Almost caught a Mankey, lost my chance for any Pokemon on that route when I knocked it out with a critical hit. Would have named it Mandy :(

My nuzlockes are currently in grinding stages, so nothing new of yet, however I am not doing quartz but instead am starting a new Platinum Nuzlocke since my last failed. If you guys want dibs on anything, let me know! :) I think my starter will be Kuno. . . because he's the starter. Other than that, let me know!

Today, I caught XanderKetsu the Slugma, Daisy the Swablu, and Stubert the Torkoal. Caught a Zigzagoon for story advancement purposes and also because my luck with Pickup is better than anyone else's I've met. I might end up just running around with six of them and be like "99 rare candies, bitches!". Srsly, all I get is Nuggets, Ultra Balls, and Rare Candies, and this Zigzagoon is level 14.

Anyway, Copy and Kusari evolved. Just a normal day :)

Shuckle just single handedly took out the first gym leader and made him cry profusely as his Cranidos withered and died to his twice growthed mega drain in one shot. My first casualty shortly after catching was Oliver, the Shynx. :(

Well Copygoo evolved, Kuno evolved, and I caught a Shellos, who I forgot to name by accident, grew him 9 levels, and then he died by fate as punishment for not naming him.

Beat Team Galactic at the windmill and went to Eternia forest, where I found Ethereal, the lvl. 10 Kricketot!

I just defeated surge in Heart Gold, was relatively simple, except for the wtf Magnet Bomb OHKO of Kuno. ;; that was going to be the 4th gym he'd soloed, damn that Magneton. caught Kairne the Magnemite outside of Vermillion, but after Kuno died just haven't been into it really. Afterwards, Rangeet and I_D wrapped things up, but Rangeet was also nearly killed by a crit shockwave, he lived with 2 HP though.

Going to start a HG Nuzlocke. Will be going by these rules:

-No starter (Get rid of starter once first mon is caught)
-No duplicates

Edit: Started it last night.

So I picked my starter, a Totodile, so that my rival would have a Chikorita and breezed through the beginning part which was talking to Mr. Pokemon and Oak, followed by an epic level 5 showdown with Silver. After getting mah ballz I went into the grass to catch some pokemanz. Ended up finding a Hoothoot, whom I named Noctum. After training him a little, I went into Route 46 hoping to find a Geodude, instead I found a shitty Rattata, Ronan. When I arrived at Cherrygrove we said goodbye to the Totodile and headed into Route 30 where we found a Spinarak, cool I've never had one before. After weakening it a bit with Noctum, I switched to Ronan to weaken it even more, except Ronan critted that little spider to death D:. Moving even further we came across a wild Hoothoot with a decent level at the time. I sent in Ronan since he was still level 2 and needed the exp but the rat was critted to death, Karma's a bitch. What levels do you guys usually grind to for a LeafGreen Nuzlocke?

I have the following Pokemon right now:
Charizard Lv. 55 (partially EV trained in Sp. Att)
Kadabra Lv. 55 (partially EV trained on Sp. Att)
Tentacruel Lv. 55 (partially EV trained in Sp. Att)
Snorlax Lv. 51 (will be partially EV trained in Att)
Sandslash Lv. 51 (will be partially EV trained in Att)

I'm thinking I'll challenge the E4 when Snorlax and Sandslash are Lv. 55.
Thoughts?

A lot of stuff happened. Basically I got the first 4 badges and a lot of pokemon died (mostly because of critical hits D: ). In one incident, I was battling this guy with a Slowpoke. He setted up with Curse about five times while I kept Leering it to cancel out the defense boost but his attack was so crazy that it swept half my team before I killed it D:. I also traded back and forth with an old comp. friend to evolve Blaze the Graveler into a Golem so he can live to his fullest potential :D. I'm not sure of what I should evolve Eevee into. I'm thinking an Umbreon since it's bulky but then he would've be that useful against Chuck. At the moment I'm just grinding before I face Chuck.

The extra levels on Charizard, Alakazam, and Tentacruel are due to Rare Candy usage after I had finished grinding (I forgot I had them).

Snorlax and Tentacruel were by far the MVPs of the E4. I usually ended up just tanking stuff with Snorlax since he had great type coverage and defense, and because I didn't want to risk anyone at all.

Weirdly enough, my biggest scare came when using Snorlax against Lorelei's Lapras. Lapras was Confuse-spamming me, and then it critted with Ice Beam; Snorlax went down to 2 HP and was Frozen! Luckily I had Full Restores, so I Trollfaced her and went on to slay it.

Using healing items mid-battle was an optional rule. I think the only time I ever did it was during the E4, actually - I almost never use healing items.

Also, this was my first Nuzlocke, so I was nervous about making it too hard.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again.

The only thing that defines a Nuzlocke are these rules:
1) When a Pokemon faints, it's dead.
2) First Pokemon on a route, no others.

As long as you have those two or some variation of that, it's a Nuzlocke. Whatever other rules you have don't matter.

This was my actual team when I effort trained during Story Mode as I played Pokemon Emerald in the Summer of '05. I had two Crap EVs Pokemon (Treecko, my starter, and Kuso "Shit" the Zigzagoon), I had two For Reals EVed Pokemon (Ziggy the Zigzagoon and Roa the Zubat), and I had two buddy Zigzagoons for Pick Up power (Lassie and ... I forget the other one's name ^^; ). So yeah: Treecko [crap], Zubat [good], and four Zigzagoons [mix of good, neutral, and crap].

By the end of the game when I took on the Elite 4, my team consisted of a Level 57 or so Linoone (Ziggy) @ 252 Att / 252 Speed / 4 HP, a Level 57 or so Crobat (Roa) @ 252 Att / 252 Speed / 4 HP, and a behemoth Level 60+ grabbag Linoone (Kuso) @ anything and everything. The Treecko'd been boxed ages ago, the other Zigzagoons boxed to make room for HM whores as need be, but on the whole ... yeah. :) Pretty much beat that entire game where two of my three MVPs were Linoones. :lol: IT CAN BE DONE!

I'm going to start a Nuzlocke run on livestream, doing Pokemon White.

My rules:

-Pokemon faints, it's dead blah blah
-Can only catch first Pokemon in each area. Duplicates are the exception, if already caught (because nobody wants 4 Woobats).
-Mercy rule: Healing items allowed, but only 1 'Revive' or 'Max Revive' allowed per Pokemon. If 'Revive' or 'Max Revive' isn't in the items, then the Pokemon must be released or boxed.
-Black out/white out is game over for good lol
-Must nickname for bonds and feels (will be using UPNers for the names so gonna need help on that)

HIERO'S JOURNAL - DAY 1

Started journey with a Female Oshawott after much deliberating. At the advice of my peers, I named her "Femshep", short for Female Shepherd. After successfully winning my first few battles against my 'rivals' Cheren and Bianca, I took north to Accumula Town. On the way, I snagged my first catch, a Male Lillipup I dubbed "Talon". On a role with Talon and Femshep, we marched into Accumula, where we were greeted by a mysterious group that wishes to liberate Pokemon. That doesn't even remotely make sense to me; I always thought that Pokemon were partners... where is this idea that they need to be liberated coming from? After they left, some guy who called himself 'N' came up to me from behind and challenged me to a battle, claiming he could 'speak to my Pokemon'. He also mumbled to himself quite a bit. After I defeated him, he left with haste... but I don't think it's the last I'll see of him.

After a little sight seeing in Accumula and talking with it's inhabitants, I headed west to the next route, where I encountered a Patrat. To be honest, I've never really liked Patrats, but hey, the more the merrier, right? I caught him with ease, and named him "Unownmew". Unfortunately for my new found friend, when he finally had his time to shine in battle against another Patrat, he fell in combat when a Tackle attack smashed him into a tree. After Talon avenged his death and a proper burial, I headed to the Dream Yard just east of Striaton City, where I met a pleasant man who gifted me a Female Pansear. Unsure of what to name her and after much deliberating the matter with my peers, we decided "InnerFlame" suited her best (had it been a male, it would have been named "Rangeet").

The night fell swiftly, so before giving it a second thought, I headed to Striaton's Pokemon Center where I found a cozy spot in the corner to rest for the night.

Tomorrow brings a new day, and perhaps, my first Gym battle.

I need your help guys.

I'm absolutely frustrated with my nuzlocke right now.

I grinded for two hours to beat the first gym, and made it through with ease. I lost my Pansear to a nasty crit hit though. Moving on to the dream yard and team plasma, my Lvl 15 Oshawott was OHKO'd at full HP by a bide + focus energy combo and I rage quit the stream. All I have left are Herdier and Osha. I don't know what to do.

Is anyone else playing with the mercy rule I found "2 KO's in a lifetime = death as opposed to 1"? I don't want to because I feel like, well, that's fairly weak, not to mention I committed to the rules as they were when I decided to do this, knowing fully well what I was getting myself into, but I don't know what to think. Fuck.

Help?

EDIT: I've also seen the mercy rule "Flip a coin. Heads, Pokemon lives. Tails, it dies." I don't know. Seems like it goes against what Nuzlocke is to me.

If you really feel like it's not the same, I wouldn't mind if you streamed another nuzlocke on a different version. Or you could take the real long and hard route and actually try to play through the nuzlocke with only Herdier, training it again and again til you're strong enough to go to new routes and catch more pokes.

Normally, I'm not a fan of Pokémon fan fiction. (Or fan fiction in general, really.) But when it's done well, then that's different. And this was done pretty damn well.

It's hard to say whether I preferred the first half or the second half. In the first half, it felt more like a "truer" parody of the games. He wasn't inventing his own story, and only on occasion was he tweaking characters' personalities (e.g. Mr. Briney) or their very existences (e.g. Wally) or the events of the world (e.g. breaking down the barrier that separates Rustboro from Verdantuff in the cave with all the Whismurs). In the second half, he started to create his own fan fictional universe within his Nuzlocke, what with Archie and May's transformations, what with the depiction of the conflict in Sootopolis, what with how battles actually play out. I liked both halves, as both were done well and they both had something to offer. If I had to pick, I guess I'd say I liked the first half more? ^^; But I liked both halves. And certainly, it's in the second half that you find the most epic and memorable scenes of the entire comic.

Also, I absolutely loved the scene with the army of Zigzagoons in Sootopolis in Part 23. :D They're just so cute! >.< :)

Some of the things I didn't like included, and were not limited to:
how he had his Pokémon dying but only the occasional enemy Pokémon, most memorably when he sliced Kyogre in half. (And I didn't really care for that either, considering -- no offense =P -- getting me to believe that a Sceptile would be powerful enough to slice a Kyogre down the middle is a hard sell.) This was most notable with May. He had her Torchic dying ... but then only "almost" dying ... and then later, in Sootopolis, he had her retiring from being a trainer because, and I quote, "I can't even begin to imagine what it's like, losing one of [my Pokémon]." Uhh ... but you did. (Or very nearly did.) And you even did what you did to the hero specifically because you wanted him to realize the pain he was causing others too. :? So, uhh ... retcon much? ^^;
how Brobat's visual depiction was itself a constant Internet meme in my face. >_> Most of the other memes he referenced were cute (e.g. when he caught Magnemite or when he raged after seeing his third Zigzagoon post-losing the squad to May), but the Brobat one ... it annoyed me greatly. =\
Still ...
This is a must-read for any fan of the Pokémon video games, I'd say, and it's definitely a must-save in my book. Thank you for sharing this with us! :)

P.S. You draw a hell of a lot better than this guy does, so craft a fun story around your Nuzlocke and you're good to go. =P

He does do perspectives better than you, I'll agree, but his drawings for the most part look like hasty scribbles with hasty colorings-in. Yours look far more polished (for better [yay polish!] or for worse [you'll probably take a lot longer to update than you would if you followed his lead ...]).

He also pulled off the personalities reasonably well, but they were pretty limited. That Freddy character goes the full other direction -- he develops personalities almost to the exclusion of all else and (frankly) most of them are off-putting. Landwalker's personalities, while less developed, were for the most part diverse and interesting. Like, the part with Marill the HM Slave near the cycling bridge? That was awesome. lol Or like, when Rikishi saw Ninio fully-evolved for the first time and was all "8O :oops:", that was awesome too. I don't think this is hard to do -- you just have to make a conscious effort at doing it, and (unlike Freddy) you have to be careful to not overdo it. A dash of salt, not a cup. ^^;

I forgot to mention this the other day, but ... rose-tinted lenses and whatnot, I was surprised to rediscover while reading Landwalker's Nuzlocke comic that all the bad guys had Poochyenas constantly. That's pretty ass. :| Now admittedly, the villains in previous games hadn't been much better (TR always with the Muks, Zubats, Koffings, and Ekanses), but still. They've definitely improved as the generations have rolled on, and so this is one thing I certainly hope they'll fix if they do in fact decide to go back and do remakes of or sequels to Gen 3 at some point. Give Team Aqua a bunch of Water-type Pokémon (as well as other things too, if possible! >_<) and go ahead and give Team Magma a bunch of Fire-types and Ground-types. Or better yet, just give them diverse teams period.

Then again, even in Gen 5 GameFreak showed us that they still haven't quite learned yet -- remember all the Patrats and Meerhogs we saw Team Plasma constantly using? :| -- so who knows. Maybe we're doomed to another Poochyena-packed adventure. :lol:

The Poochyena problem definitely makes me hesitant about replaying Gen 3. That's probably silly of me, though, considering just how many non-Aqua/Magma trainers there are in the game. Still, I really enjoyed the plot and the (western) geography, so ...

So after a somewhat one-sided conversation with Daisy, I've decided to restart my Diamondlocke...before it's too laaaaaaaaate~

Daisy is tracking her EV's, and I found that to be a splendid idea. It'll be a touch rough, but I think it'll be a good indicator of personality and gives me a modicum of control over my dessssstineeeeeee.

Someone just died while training to battle Elesa so I felt the need to update.

Current Team:

Also, since it was my starter that died, I went ahead and wrote something about it.

Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion. It was a weak attack. I thought she could take it but when it actually came, I found myself nearly in tears. The Pansage's claws raked across Cassie's chest. The look on her face matched mine in terms of fear and shock. The simian's claws shredded open her chest, severing a major artery and leaving her bleeding profusely. I called out her name as she fell into the grass. A sickening thud emanated as the Servine's body hit the earth.

I couldn't help myself. As soon as she hit I ran over and fell to my knees at her side. As gently as I could, I picked her body up. I could feel it convulsing as she took harsh, labored breaths. Eyelids hung heavy as the light began to fade from her pupils. A long breath was drawn in, as if she was getting ready to say one final message. No words came out with the breath. I felt the body, once vibrant and lively, go limp with lifelessness.

Tears fell from my eyes, landing on the corpse in my arms. In the back of my mind I was hoping that it would be like one of those movies where someone who cares about someone who died cries on the body and it comes back to life in some magical way. I knew it wouldn't happen but the hope was still there. I pulled her in close. Blood saturated my jacket but I didn't care. I just wanted her back.

Something rushed passed my side. I wouldn't find out until hours later that it was Wayne. The Gurdurr had seen his ally fall and had apparently beaten the opposing Pansage to near death. I would go back and apologize to that trainer. She'll accept but I'll get the feeling she won't mean it.

After the shape passed by me, two more appeared at my side. My own monkey, Ziggy, a Simipour, and Clay, my Dwebble, were both staring at Cassie's body. Both started crying. Ziggy was crying harder which made me remember that he had known Cassie almost as long as I had. She rooted him on as he soloed the Striaton Gym and assisted in the training that had prepared him for that feat. Their bond was brother-sisterly.

We stayed out in that field for another hour weeping. For the next hour after that, we searched for a suitable, solitary place and buried her there. Clay helped in finding a suitable rock to use as a gravestone and Wayne helped in putting it in the ground. By the time we finished, the sun had begun to set. Rather than trekking back to the city in the dark, we decided to stay at that spot in the woods. Our last night with Cassie.

Probably not a great piece of writing but hey, it was a spur of the moment idea and written in a half hour. Should be good enough to convey what I want.

EDIT: Announcing the cancellation of Black Nuzlocke. Instead, I'll be starting a VoltWhite Nuzlocke.

I'm just saying. Gen 5's ridiculously CritHit happy. Even putting your life into the low green, never mind the yellow or the red, while fighting in this game can be risky if you're Nuzlocke-ing it. And this very practice is going to become a regular occurrence with you since you'll only get to use non-gym city PokeCenters once and gym city PokeCenters twice. :|

Is it even possible to finish that? I mean, you won't be able to grind much at all because you'll run out of PP too fast, and have to Struggle out all your battles against opponents who aren't Struggling.

The only chances you'll get for PP recovery would be Mom's house, Pokecenters, and learning new moves. Not sure the game can be beat on that...

Also, did they up the crit chance in Gen V or something, or are you just referring to personal experience, Talon? And if you're referring to personal experience... how? Didn't you boycott this game?

Everyone said I had to play it before I could knock it. So I did play it. While maintaining my boycott. Then everybody said I had to play it in English. So I did that too. Then everybody said making it through Gym 3's city wasn't good enough to judge. "Fine, ~_~" I said. So I beat the game. And just to shut them up before they could say anything, I pressed on and did most of the post-Story Mode stuff too (like getting Volcarona out of the desert castle and finding Cynthia at the summer resort city).

So I've done both, as paradoxical as that may sound to you: maintained my boycott ("not going to buy another game until they shape up >_>") but at the same time have played the game so that I can back up my claims with first-hand authority -- because YOU THE PEOPLE demanded me to.

Since it's Volt White, I have a lot more, higher tiered options avalible to me so I can create a more balanced team. Additionally, I get lots of Lucky Eggs and EXP. Shares early in the game to help train with but yes, PP is a limiting factor. Like I said, I watched a guy finish the challenge so I know it's possible.

Hungry, tired, holed up under tree on Route 6. Kerban is asleep; he's breathing heavily, but the antidote seems to be working as his fever's broken. It was a close call: that Wurmple came out of nowhere. If it hadn't been for Kerban, I might have been a goner. It's a good thing I had an antidote on me ... unfortunately, that was my last one, and we're still 10 miles away from the nearest city. Although neat, I am not that creative. I could compose a symphony about my adventure, but I would not know how to write a diary about it if I had to to save my life. xD

Currently trying to figure out how to make livestream work. I'll probably do a combo of that and screenshots

Okay, I just started the Composerlocke for realz. Team status:

I track EV's, like Daisy does, so each point for a stat is a group of 4. I'm not counting incomplete groups.

We defeated Roark, and I will catch my next 'mon, Shinx, at the northern end of Rt.204 because icba to wait till Fuego Ironworks and they're neatly divided by that cave thing anyway. Right now I have him down as Bach, so if anyone wants to suggest a good composer name for him that'll be fine.

I am going by the first-capture-per-route rule, but I am applying the duplicate rule for things not on my list (and, naturally, things I already have ;)). It is a tough restriction looking at it now, and I really had to plan stuff out to make sure that I didn't make things impossible for myself (route progression is difficult! Make sure to use Repel!), but it's possible, thank God.

Also I changed Abomasnow because I realized that he'd make a perfect Brahms. A-Brahms-asnow? Priceless!
