Which pokemon do you just hate?
Or, which are your least favorite?
Personally, I hate Magmortar, Electivire, and Purugly.
With a minor vendetta against Zubat/Golbat, the most annoying wild pokemon ever created (IMO).

SUPWISE! :3
But jests of "Goddamn Spinda -_-;" and "SUPWISE! :3" aside, my least favorite Pokémon are usually the ones that are either super-super ugly (and not in a wicked awesome cool way), so ones like Purugly or Gothitelle, or else the ones that just don't look like a Pokémon (even if, duh-hurr, they are one), so ones like Ledyba or Ludicolo. Yeah, I especially dislike Ludicolo's look: he looks like a Mexican Darkwing Duck that mated with a Russian matryoshka doll or a Fabergé egg.
But a most hated Pokémon? During Gen 4, the award definitely went to Bidoof and later Bibarel. Though Bidoof really became awesome when ChunSoft broke through the fourth wall with him in their sequel to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and had him basically be the slow-'n'-simple feller with a heart of gold character and lent him a lot of personality that was steeped in the fandom's impression of the retard beaver from D/P playthrus. Was hard not to love PMD Bidoof. Just like it was hard not to like Zazu Chatot in that game, even if he was a bit uptight and prissy at times. Digression. Most hated Pokémon ... most hated Pokémon ... you know, I really don't know. There've been ones I've disliked over the years but the hatred ebbs and flows.
Though I suppose Spinda shall forever be Talon87's archnememon.

The trash bag is awesome.
Another Pokemon I have vendettas with is the Magnemite family, god I hated Watson's gym.

I really hated the idea of a trashbag monster at first, but I can't bitch too much about it since my bigger beef is with Pokémon that don't feel like real Pokémon and the trashbag Pokémon is, undeniably, a v.2.0 of Grimer and Muk. So if I was okay with toxic sludge randomly producing living organisms, how can I not be okay with living organisms also arising seemingly out of nothingness in a junkyard?
Machamp's belt is something which bothers me, but not in a "which Pokémon do you hate the most?" sense. More of a "what oddities about Pokémon canon bother you?" sense. It's one of those things that goes along the lines of "why are the hatchlings of Pokémon that never evolve already full-size?" (like Miltank) or "why is a full-grown mother with child hatching out of this egg?" (like Kangaskhan). I don't hate the creatures, but those oddities sure do nag at me. But when you really think about it, the biggest oddity of them all is the centerpiece to the entire franchise -- and that's that these creatures would take orders from humans even though half of them are said to have human or superhuman intelligence and nearly all of them are shown to have human or superhuman strength. It defies logic that an Alakazam would take orders from a ten-year old boy. One thing I've long felt is that ChunSoft was onto something with their PMD series -- if Pokémon were to get a fresh start, I think it'd be more logical if the monsters formed squads themselves and if we took out the humans. Whether it would still be about martial prowess, as in the franchise proper, or whether it would be about other goals, like the PMD groups' aims of being rescue squads, I think the story might be more believable if it played out like a Final Fantasy VII or Dragon Quest VIII where everyone joined the Hero's team in order to achieve a common goal or to help one another achieve their each individual's own goals. But I digress. This really has nothing to do with what Pokemon one hates the most. Does Machamp's belt make me hate him? Not particularly. I have more of an issue with the fact that he has a blue-skinned Austrian bodybuilder body with a peculiar fanged turtle head (Machoke) or fat-lipped amphibian head with peculiar cranial flanges (Machamp) glued on top of the trunk. Effin' weird. :| Would be like taking the body of a Torchic but replacing the head with Bill Gates'.
AMBIPOM! -_-; Great call, Headmaster. Really hate that one. It looks horrendous. Looks like it has an inflamed cow udder for a "hand" on its tail. Like if you were to gently squeeze it that it would squirt out bloody milk. Repulsive. The rest of the creature isn't much to look at either.
You hate Relicanth though? :( I think the dude looks pretty cool.

Oh, and Swanna, I forgot. UGH!!! Swans are supposed to be beautiful, graceful creatures. Swanna looks like a perpetually pissed off, stuck up, woman. I would love to X that pokemon out, and obliterate it from existance.
I also do not find many other pokemon of the 5th generation attractive or appealing at all, in any way shape or form, particularly the dumb-looking genies. Only a very select few are worthy of praise in that lot, which is rather sad, considering they added 300+ in one go, and not even 100 of them are worthy of being called Pokemon.

Gardobar, Magmortar, Stunfisk, a few others that look truly derpy. But the true depth of my hatred is reserved for FUCKING BLAZIKEN.
It looks like a mentally disabled five year old was given aritstic control, and then a team of professionals sat down with the initial designs and deliberately made it as much worse as it was humanly possible to do. Then they decided that wasn't enough, had the lead designers preganant wife take a picture of the products of her morning sickness and merged it with the pre-existing design to make Blazikens face. At this point they felt they had a rough idea of what it should look like, but it still wasn't quite mind-bendingly retarded enough to cause more than a temporary mental breakdown in those who saw it, so they handed it over to the lead digimon designer along with copious amounts of LSD and told him to have at it.
The aforementioned story is obviously not true, because they still wouldn't have come up with something quite so cunt-garglingly spasticated as Blaziken, but it's a rough approximation of what I imagine must be going on behind the scenes. That thing makes me physically sick. Which is a shame because I actually quite like Combusken.

The Garbodor thing may be cute, Stu, but don't let it fool you: I can copy and paste that exact same message and put it with art of any other parent/child Pokémon pairing (or, for those that don't evolve, brother and sister) and it'd be the same thing. "It's okay if people don't like us. Nobody has to. But I'm sure one day we'll find someone special -- someone who will like us for who we are. I'd like that more than anything, I think." Just copy and paste that quote above a picture of Purugly (mother) and Glameow (child), the Purugly licking the Glameow's head, the Glameow purring with eyes happily shut. (See sample. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g92/talon87/Pokemon/example.jpg) Yes, I realize that's not Glameow , but it's the best I could find in so little time. Original version here (http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=12256199).) The Garbodor fan who made that is just trying to guilt you into liking Garbodor when really, if you deconstruct what he's saying ...
>someone who will like us for who we are
>for who we are
>who we are
You're trash, Garbodor. Literally: you're garbage 'mons. The fanart is saying, "Even trash needs love. Adopt some trash today." NO! You flush your poop down the toilet! Wow, that conversation has nothing to do with my hate of Joltik. Joltik and Galvantula are pretty ugly Pokemon, though Joltik does have a cute factor. Everything you've just said is wrong. Well, I can't speak for why you don't like Joltik, and pitting a Galvantula against a Steelix would certainly be a tough win, but ...
- ugly? One of the best and truest looking Pokemon of Gen 5
- bad typing? Are you kidding? XD 2x weak to fire ... 2x weak to rock ... and that's it. In exchange for these two weaknesses, he bags two of the most interesting elements and pairs them up for interesting coverage against some very important but very different threats.
- bad movepool? Again: are you kidding!? Limited movepool =/= bad movepool. Galvantula has all that it needs in Thunderbolt, Bug Buzz, Energy Ball, and Hidden Power: Ice. If you're not lucky enough to get good stats and HP: Ice legitimately, you've still got a solid electric Pokemon. If you are? You've got the best non-legendary electric there is.
In the transition from Gen 4 to Gen 5, only two slots on my team gave way for Gen 5 creatures one of them is constantly cycled. The other slot? The one whose occupant has secured a permanent spot on the squad? That's right: it's Galvantula's.
Even if we wanted to talk superficial reasons alone for hating, though, I can't believe you hate this line. Joltik is adorable and Galvantula looks awesome.

Magnezone says hi! Oh, and Magcargo.

lol wut no? Magnezone is a very, very good Steel trapper, and with C.Specs, a great special attacker. What does Galvantula have against that? A S.Rock weakness, no Sandstorm immunity, and, with Magnet Rise, Magnezone has the most resistences and immunities total out of every Pokemon.

Magnezone is okay at what it does (situationally trapping steels) but when it's rediculously slow and half the Pokémon you face have EQ it's clear why it's UU. Magnet Rise isn't going to change that either. Trust me, as UPN's last wifi tourney champion I have a lot of metagame experience.
Galvantula's unique typing of Bug/Electric gives it a powerful offensive STAB combination, and its ability Compoundeyes allows it to abuse a more accurate STAB Thunder with few drawbacks. 108 base Speed and 97 base Special Attack doesn't hurt either. Yeah it's lacking on the defensive side, but most sweepers fall under the same bracket.

Coulda been nice if he were at least like a Ghost-type Steelix, but as it is, he's the posterchild of 5th Gen UU. That line should not exist either IMO. A Zebra would have made a better Dark, Normal, fire, or psychic type pokemon. White + Black zig-zaggy Lightning Bolts, just look bad. Not to mention the shape looks more like a donkey then a horse, but at least donkeys look adequately nice.
And if it was an adult who designed the ice cream cone, the snow globe head, or The Fugliest Pokemon Ever a.k.a. Security Cone Gothic? Then that adult should be ridiculed, punished, and fired, never to disgrace Pokemon with their shitty design concepts ever again.
I agree whoever thought up the idea for an ice cream pokemon should be ridiculed, punished, and fired, with a tarnished reputation. However, whatever fool of a manager actually "Okeyed" the idea and allowed it to become an actual canon pokemon, should be punished far, far worse.
I don't understand your hate for Gothitelle though. I agree she isn't the most attractive pokemon, and could definitely use some more design tweaking to put her in a class near Gardevoir's. But she isn't quite that terrible IMO, and has a lot of potential for interpretive fan-art.
Which pokemon is the snow globe head though? Glalie? Evil snowballs are better then a fat flaming magma cannon on legs, Electric Zebra, Garbage bags, pompous humanoid-torso genies on clouds, and rocks with hairy mustaches and red top-hats

Good point! I forgot about that, and finding Voltorb around in the Rocket's hideout in Silver Version was pretty cool.
But at least Voltorb had a good reason for looking like a pokeball though: an unknown inorganic pokemon. Not much is know about them, and no one knows why it looks like a pokeball.
Where possible theories could be concocted like: it's a pokeball that came alive through electricity.
And it has a cool name.
Foongus Amoongus, have the stupidest names I've ever heard. (Already got sick of my dad making stupid fungus jokes with that phrase, years ago), and it has no real backstory or possible explanation for it's FAIL evolutionary traits available in the pokedex.
No wild pokemon in it's right mind would bother approaching a dropped pokeball, and pokeballs (being metal/plastic), won't magically somehow turn into a fungus like one could believe they could turn into a Voltorb by being exposed to electricity.
Besides, Fungi don't prey, they decompose already dead stuff.
make the Pokedex lore say:
it preys on unsuspecting trainers by pretending to be a lost item, stuns them with spore powders and then devours them/turns them into a host for incubating it's spores.
or
it is a strange fungus which decays lost items/pokeballs despite them having no organic materials. Where a dropped item is left and unfound for a long time, a Foongus appears, to decompose it back to the natural enviroment.
and then we can talk about it being a possible canon pokemon.

I can't stand those black and white Zig-zaggy lightning bolts. If they had gone with a toned down stripe-set, or did something else entirely design-wise so it's only "vaguely" like a zebra, just like electabuzz is only vaguely like a tiger, then I wouldn't mind it so much. I dislike the typing a bit, because I think they're tossing electric on too many pokemon where it doesn't really fit, and it's starting to get overkill, where the base animal could be much better suited for a different type.
Electric squirrel, electric flying squirrel, electric bunnies (plusle and minun), electric mouse-lion-thing (Luxray), electric lion-thing (Manectric), etc.
Whats with the ice-cream hate people? Everybody loves ice-cream. I don't have any problems with an icecream pokemon, except with the spoon sticking in Vaniluxe, thats just wrong...
Don't forget the straw..
I don't hate Ice cream, I hate pokemon that look like food. What other pokemon look like a type of food? It's unnatural, not to mention it doesn't fit ancient pokemon lore (when ice cream could never have existed).
It's called the icicle pokemon, so, shouldn't it look more like an icicle, then having a food theme? If it was just a plain icicle, with maybe a better name, I wouldn't mind so much.
I just want to hope this isn't a sign of things to come. We have animals, plants, ghosts, and inanimate objects. Do we really need food pokemon? What's next? A Taco Pokemon? Or maybe it's a pancake. What if it's a beef stroganof or a cheesy ravioli?!
A riceball pokemon though.. I could maybe get behind that.
If they're so out of ideas that that have to resort to food items for concepts... they should maybe hire some new concept artists, and start thinking long and hard about their ideas and focusing on quality instead of tossing out whatever ones they can think of to make it to +100 more pokemon for the next game deadline.
I wouldn't mind one bit if they stopped adding 100s more pokemon each generation, and focused more on a compelling storyline and lots more things to do instead of it.
Based on the original premise of pokemon, pokemon should have been discovered only a few at a time, not with a whole new huge region full of them and people living together there for ages and we just now found them.
Unownmew, you have something against easter island? Those statues are supposed to have said top hats, just no moustache. Which I think is a nice twist. Admittably they should have actual bodies as well, since the actual statues appear to be burried.
Nothing against it at all. In fact, I don't mind the top hat so much, I was just using it as an identifier. But, I really do not like the mustache, and the bulk nosepass puts on when it eloves. Nosepass was, kinda dumb, but fine, IMO.
Personally, I think they should not add evolutions after the fact, unless the concept is very, very, very well thought out, along with the method of evolution being simple and reusable. Simply adding items and locations and junk to evolve previously unevolveable pokemon is lame except in certain circumstances where it makes sense. (For example: Leafeon should have evolved with the Leaf stone instead of at mossy rock. And Gallade and Gardevoir should have had different lines from ralts restricted by gender, A male Gardevoir should not have ever existed. While giving a curious steel item and trading, makes sense to evolve some pokemon into a steel type. And they should increase that number instead of keeping it only for the original two (onix and scyther))

Oh, Oshawott. Yeah, that baby otter isn't very cute, but it's evolution isn't too bad. I don't understand it's final evolution though, it doesn't look very otterish, and what's with it turning it's armor into a sword to wave around in one hand while standing on 3 legs? :?
I agree, bad design remains bad regardless of how much conditioning one gets.
I prefer the river-otter Buizel, but even that one had to take some getting used to.
Ehh, I don't find her half as hideous as some of the other ones I've mentioned previously in the thread. She has great potential in the "vagueity" of fan-art. At certain angles she looks really decent, but other angles, in her canon image, show off a bunch of flaws that make her unappealing.
If she had been given same type of grace as Gardevoir, I think she could have really come off as another great pokemon. Unfortunately, my bet is that she was designed by a wannabe concept artist trying to pull off a Gardevoir but hadn't the slightest clue how.
I wish I could take over GameFreak and do some redesignings, and then distribute a revised pokemon list and make the redesigns canon. As well as making the pokemon have much more "life" and connection with each other, and the lore.
Instead of redesigning lore, and adding new legendaries each generation, why can't they expound upon the original lore, and make everything interconnected and mystical? With a couple good independent side-stories.

You don't put a bow and collar on it and name it Poopsiekins! Is it Garbodor's fault it's made of stinky trash? No! But that doesn't mean I have to like it! >_>
HEY! I actually work with Trash, and the thing I hate about it is that people drench their bags in chlorine. You ever have to sit in a truck that smells like chlorine because you have it all over your gloves? Not a pleasant ride believe me. And I actually liked Trubbish when I first saw it, not so much Garbador at first...but I grew to love it.
Pokemon that I hate...hmm...
Well, I can't say much for Magikarp, I hate it, same goes for Blaziken and Prinplup. But I have to say that the number one pokemon in my hate list is...
SCRAFTY!!!!
The reason why I hate it mostly is because of its appearance. An orange lizard? I'll accept. And orange lizard with a mohawk, drooping pants that it keeps pulling up and a face that makes you wonder if it came from a mental institute? NO! That thing is just plain ugly, no two ways about it.
But I digress.....

I have never heard of this before. Who sterilizes their trash? Who drenches trash bags in chlorine? :? Industry, maybe. Hospitals, maybe. But unless you're collecting from either of those two ...
Chlorine is a very strong odorant; and a little bleach can go a long way. Perhaps working with trash, assuming you work with it not on the pickup route but at the processing facility, you smell chlorine because of trace amounts of bleach from used bleach bottles? That's the only thing I can think of.
But I have never, ever heard of people "drenching their bags in chlorine." O_o

We pick up out in the woods...you know where there's more wild animals out there to get into the garbage than in the city. Where bears and stuff run free to get themselves a good meal? Yeah...they smell the food inside a lot of the garbage and attack it. And instead of putting the chlorine in the bags and on the food, people decide that it's a good idea to poor it on the outside of said bags. It works, but it smells. Not too many people do it, but the ones that do are on the route that I pick up...mostly where the culprits are the first bags I have to pick up. yeah...
EDIT: Oophs, I meant to put Chlorox not Chlorine...but it's pretty much the same difference.

Interesting! I never knew this. I have only ever lived in suburbia or in the city, never out in the woods, so this is the first I've heard of people using chlorine as a deterrent against wild animals foraging through their trash. Most people I know who have to worry about racoons, be it in the MidWest or Florida or wherever, have used bungee cords that they tie around their trash bins' lids. The cords are too powerful for the racoons to manipulate off but easy enough for humans.

It's funny how they have a way of making me okay with Pokémon I've previously hated. The anime made me accept Oshawott via Ash's Oshawott because he's simply got the best personality of any Pokemon in the program since Ash's Chikorita back in 2000. The video games made me accept Bidoof via ChunSoft's heartfelt appeal to the masses in PMD2 where they basically made Bidoof out to be the buffoon of the squad (how befitting) but gave him this epic heart of gold and made him the kind of character who, even if he's a total loser, is giving things his all moreso than any other Pokemon on the team. You can't help but to love the guy by the end of the primary Story Mode. Do I still hate Bidoof jumping out everywhere in the 4th gen main games' grassy patches? Yes. Do I hate the creature himself though? I just can't. PMD2 made Bidoof awesome. :( lol
But I doubt they could ever make me accept Gothitelle.

Oh wait. :|
Stunfisk seriously looks like a crappy doodle come up with by an 8-year old who himself or herself realizes the creation is atrocious but who just couldn't come up with better because, duh, he or she is only 8 years old and can't design a good Pokémon for shit. The fact that it is actually real is reason enough to accept that GameFreak is trolling the fandom and that so long as you continue to buy these games like the happy crack addicts you are that they can get away with murder.
I have seen better 3rd place Create-Your-Own-Pokémon entries in Fizzy Bubbles' annual contest than Stunfisk. He is abysmal. He makes Zora weep that Pinaclsaur can't even win a fan competition five years running, much less become an authentic Pokémon, while Stunfisk not only can become an authentic Pokémon but has become an authentic Pokémon.

LOL, seeing your new avatar, Yuki, made me go and do a little digging around in FB and PASBL and I was shocked to discover a veritable army of members sporting Pinaclsaur avatars. Hanatori, Daisy, Muyo, Torkoal Stu, empoleon dynamite, the list goes on. Could this be the Year of Pinaclsaur? That'd be kinda sad, in its own way: you wouldn't have the perennial joke of "PITY ME!" Pinaclsaur anymore.
Dave, that's exactly how I always imagined Samurott must look when he's wielding his swords, given what his Pokédex entry says about him. Have been looking forward to seeing in the show, but I'll settle for that (fan?)art you just submitted. (I speculate fan because look at the spot where his legs meet his groin. It looks like a bad PhotoShop job. Really fuzzy. :|)
This is why I wanted him to be Water/Fighting though. Pretty dumb that we got our third Fire/Fighting starter and that we got our third pure Water starter. Water/Fighting isn't without its challenges, but it would have been a fun type combination to roll with. Particularly in the Gen-4-forward world of the Physical/Special split where we can now have a physical water Pokémon (which I'd think a sword-wielder would be) with both physical Water and physical Fighting STABs to rely upon.
To be honest, Pokémon like Samurott are why it'd be an interesting experiment (though would we later regret it?) to give Pokémon STAB on moves that aren't their body's core element. That way you could have Samurott be a pure Water-type Pokemon for the purposes of taking damage but for the purposes of dealing damage he'd have Steel STAB or Rock STAB (depending on whether you want the swords to count as mineral shells [rock] or metal blades [Steel]). But I digress.
Samurott, not crazy about his design, but he's cool enough in my book. His Pokédex entry is probably the one which I like the most out of any of the Unova starters' fully-evolved forms.

I kind of feel like the 'ad campaign' so to speak is more or less (like you said) a running gag/meme and everyone is in on it and it was never meant to be taken seriously at all, similar to the Sims meme that was going on a few weeks back and all of the other short lived UPN memes before it.

Also, I'm totally not here for my obligatory 'Chandelure draws inspiration from a Will-of-the-Wisp, and the fact that it is a Chandelier is because GameFreak decided that a ghostly light that lures people to their death can be combined with a light fixture often found in stereotypical haunted houses'.
No, really. I'm totally here to say I quite dislike Granbull. Not because I overly like Snubull or anything, but because, well, it's a purple bulldog on it's hindlegs. Anyway, hoping back to defend a Gen 1 'mon, Voltorb follows the RPG mainstay of a 'Mimic'. You know, you walk up to a treasure chest, try to open it and- Oh, whoops, it's an enemy. Voltorb followed the same idea, and those of us who remember wandering through the Power Plant back in R/B/Y likely know exactly what I'm talking about.
Now, hoping forwards again. Something people should keep in mind is that, as GF said in an interview, they viewed Unova as a 'new start'. Thus, they had no qualms having another go at concepts they had already used back in Gen 1, and trying to improve on them (or just looking at them from a different angle). This explains 'mon such as Munna, Foongus, Timburr, and suchforth.

I also love how they take two shitmons from B/W but then lump in with them the amazing Chandelure. As if to say, "Well if you hate these guys then you must hate this one too. And if you like this one, then you gotta love the others as well." Fuck you, no I don't! hahahaha I can enjoy the Chandelures and the Galvantulas just fine -- and completely separate from the awfulness that is an ice cream cone Pokémon, an eternally-tearful snowflake, or a polar bear with a snotsicle coming out of its nose.

I have to say that I agree with this (hence why neither are on my ASB Gym team). Alomomola is basically Luvdisc and Blissey put in a blender in terms of both looks and moveset, making it a bit of a waste. An Ocean Sunfish could have been much more awesome in Pokémon form.
I liked Basculin when I first saw it, but was left thorougly underwhelmed as soon as the games came out. It's basically Carvanha sans Dark-type and again, could've been much better.

Meh,
Finally, someone said something about Jynx and its horrid appearance! :P
Though as Kuno said, there are almost no awesome Ice-types. Hell, the only Ice-type that really stands out to me is Lapras. Though what Ice-type 4th gen pokemon is good? Abomasnow? Meh. Glaceon? blech. Mamoswine? *holds back vomit*
All generations had their horrid Pokemon. Gen I had the Magnimite Line, Oddish Line, Caterpie line, etc. While Gen V had the Ice cream pokemon and.....uh....just the Ice Cream Pokemon.
You don't like the Magnemite line? Or Bellossom? Or Butterfree? AND GLACEON!!!
You sir, are wrong. Take it all back, now.
I can honestly say that I like Vannilite, and its evolutions suck. Cryogonal is cool-looking, as well as Beartic. Kyurem.....needs some work.
Amlofmlollmmola looks like a pink puffy bruise, but Basculin is kick-ass looking. A HELL of a lot better looking the Stunfisk.

What. You don't like Vileplume?
OPINION DISMISSED.
Thanks for saving me the trouble of reading the rest of your post. =P
Sigged for win.
Now, back on topic.
Whoops, made a mistake. You're right, they're frowning, not smiling. The main point I was trying to make is that they're not crying.
Obligatory remark about Umbreon's rings making sense when you know what an Umb is go here (It's a yellow circle around the moon, for those who don't know. Sailors say that when you see it, you count how many stars are inside it, and that's how many days until a storm hits).
This whole page can be summed up as 'Everyone has wildly different tastes and opinions'. There would be a lot less flaming if people started putting 'imop' at the end of their posts and realized not everyone shares their views. With that done...

The problem with justifying a character design -- particularly an older character design like a Gen 2 creature's -- with their English name is that the creators/designers of the Pokémon had NO knowledge nor concern for what this creature was going to be called in English. "Umbreon" is so named for umbr- "shadow," not for umb "obscure European sailor term I doubt anyone at NoA knew or cared about." But its Japanese name of Blackie has nothing to do with either shadows or sailor terminology: it refers, clearly, to the dark which Dark-types are supposedly associated with.
This point is actually very relevant in deconstructing a number of English fanbase misconceptions or misunderstandings. "Why does Wobbuffet always pop out of his Pokéball?" "Because he's saying 'That's right!' and his timing makes it funny." "Why doesn't Waterfall make a waterfall the way Surf makes a tidal wave?" "Because the move is called 'go up a waterfall,' not 'Waterfall'." "Why does Swift always make stars?" "Because its name is 'Speed Star'." So on and so forth. Before making a theory about why some Pokemon or some move is the way that it is, always, always, always consider the original name first.
Not sure why that's sig material, but w/e. ^^; I love Vileplume. With GSC I had my "Bellossum is better" phase but I snapped out of that by Gen 3.

Ah, that's true. Forgot about that. But I still think that GF gave them the circles due to the existance of the Umb- they seem to know quite a few more obscure facts than people give them credit for.

My least favorite Pokemon has to be Bibarel. Its face is so...ugh. Don't really hate any Gen V, except Sigilyph and Swoobat.

Swoobat was bad, but Sigilyph is pretty cool in my opinion.
A horrible Pokemon: Magmar line. Other than Magby.

I keep wanting to post in this thread to say that I don't hate any Pokemon, but then realize that feeling raging apathy at worst towards any Pokemon just doesn't make for terribly spirited discussion. tungsten
(PS: I would sorta like Chingling if it didn't seem like a thoroughly unnecessary baby 'mon (someone feel free to prove me wrong on this, because something feels wrong here), I constantly forget about the existence of something called "Dialga" and Reshiram is very mildly overdesigned. Lose a couple feather-spikes, pal.)

No, but my memecatching tendencies mean I forget about it a bit less often than Dialga. [/seriousanswer]
Talon: 4chanatori. =P
Hana: Well, it's an honest answer.
I seem to have a similar problem with Solrock and Lunatone--I frequently forget the latter exists but happen to like the former.
Zora: Obviously it's because Solrock is the superior Pokemon, and I am a superior trainer of Solrocks.
Hana: When the hell did you get here?

I must say I quite hate Pikachu. Its design isn't aesthetically pleasing to me, its movepool is not very good, and it has this undeserved fame to the point where it seems everybody loves it.
Otherwise, I don't like Goldeen (but Seaking is nice), I rather dislike Probopass, and Watchog annoys me to high hell. I dislike Gyarados' popularity, but not him in general. Regigigas sucked as a trio master to the Regis who are, in my opinion, fairly epic. I dislike Froslass only in comparison to Glalie, because I love Glalie.
Of course, I actually like the ice cream, Paras, Tangela, and Nosepass, so take my opinion with a line of salt.

I actually used to hate Pikachu too, as it's all non-pokemon players ever talked about.
Then I saw it's Platinum Sprite, played Pokepark, and few other things which made me realize how cute it is.

It was about then when I realized that hating something just because other people hate/like it is stupid and it should be judged on it's own merit.

Despite the fact that I love Serperior, I can't stand Servine. It looks like puberty started to hit it, and then it decided that it had somewhere else to be. It just looks way too awkward and is just eugh.
I also have a slight problem with Purrloin. Something about its head just doesn't sit will with me. Looking at it makes my skin crawl.
Other than that, I really have no qualms about any of the pokemon in the five generations.
