For the past year, my dad has developed (and won't fucking let go of) the annoying habit of using the word "bastards" a lot when getting mad at an entire group of people. Example ...
- he's watching a show about Bush & Friends doing something he disagrees with and says, "Those bastards ..."
- he's watching a news story about Enron and says, "Those bastards ..."
- he's watching 24 and sees the bad guys and says, "Those bastards ..."

Normally, I wouldn't have noticed this annoying habit of his. There's just one problem, a problem which brings the habit to my attention each and every time, a habit which makes my skin crawl and on no fewer than three occasions has caused me to fucking snap and scream bloody murder at him ...

He says it like he's Joey Wheeler. "Bastads." He says it with the same pseudo-Bronx accent that 4Kids gave Yugi Mutou's best friend, and the R is so nasalized that it's practically missing. My dad does not speak nasally -- just this one word. But it fucking pisses me off so bad, and I feel the need to rant now (because he did it again, and I could hear it over 20 dB of Shakugan no Shana anime with me wearing soundproof headphones). Otherwise, I will fucking ignite. :evil:

It's that bad. Imagine if somebody spoke like me (you know what I sound like), but then for the one time they want to express "Don't worry about it" / "No problem" / "Relax", they always always always say "Fuhgeddaboudit!" It would drive you up the wall, wouldn't it? It really drives me up the wall. -_-;

You either get used to it or start making fun of the person for it.

After my friend went to Boston for a weekend, he started to say 'Awesome' with a Bostonian accent where the 'awe' is stretched a bit and now we ridicule him every time.

I actually had to dig up my old Azumanga Daioh! books to check out to spell 'Fuhgeddaboudit!'
