PSP games getting re-released for PS3 with better graphics (ha) and control options (hooray!) and best of all not being handheld! Short of finding some super awesome deals I'm calling off my hunt for PSP games. I know that only a fraction of 'em will get released this way but since I prefer console gaming to handhelds I'm keeping a close eye on this. If Segac brings PS:P2i out like this I'll jump for joy!

I read about this earlier today. Looks awesome since I'd rather play on PS3 most of the time.

I wanted a PSP and a PS3 for this generation's suite of Sony exclusives, now I just want a PS3.
Hopefully after a hacker induced price cut.

Yeah, I went on eBay several days ago but it seems the talk of sweet PS3 deals has been grossly exaggerated. Most of the PS3s are selling for $180 to $200 and come with:
(1) no games
(2) condition which ranges from "used" to "for parts", none of them are listed as "like new"
(3) no free shipping (which means for a heavy and fragile shipment like a PS3 you can easily tack on $15 for S&H)

I don't expect #3, but it factors in to the final price which is why I mention it. I also don't expect #1, but it too factors in to the final price. But #2 I do expect -- "used" on eBay has a very specific meaning beyond the vernacular "Oh yeah, I've owned it for 5 years so it's therefore used." No: you could do that and it'd still be listable as "like new". So if they're listing it as "used," then it means either (a) they're not telling the truth about full functionality or (b) they've heavily played/abused it and expect some component of it to fail in the near future.

Basically, everyone is trying to sell their PS3 lemons right now by cashing in on the perceived PS3 sales craze by us hopeful buyers. All you have to do is look to the retail stores and see zero signs of new console price cuts to realize that the non-lemons haven't budged at all.

There was one guy who blatantly lied about his PS3 being "used" but I didn't want to go through the hassle of reporting him since it'd be me vs. him at that point and I said "fuck it." The guy had listed his PS3 as "used" which, by eBay's definitions, means (and I quote):
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Despite this, look at what he's then said in the listing!
For sale is a used PS3, it is currently not reading discs but will power up and do everything else.
Sorry, bud asshole, but if it isn't reading discs (wtf) then it's not "used", it's fucking broken and you need to list it as such.

So yeah. Caveat emptor and all that stuff as usual applies to buying second-hand goods from eBay. Just be careful, Weebos.

It's okay because I literally have $5 to my name right now and no job. Come on employment!

What sales craze? There's not exactly a lot coming down the pike for people who haven't already drank the PS3 Kool Aid.

As far as PSP HD PS3 remakes...eh. The only thing that's plausibly going to be released are games that I have no interest in anyway (else I would have already picked them up at Gamestop for 10 bucks used). Being able to play PSP games on a console where the analog stick isn't shit would be nice, but none of the games I have on the PSP thankfully require using it (bar Chains of Olympus, ugh playing that game sucked for my left hand).

Someone wake me when they do a PS3 remake of Tactics Ogre with a Fornier sister mudwrestling minigame, or something.

What sales craze?
Friends irl had mentioned it to me. They were looking at some of the auctions while at work. But I'd have to agree with you that reports of a sales craze appear to have been grossly exaggerated.

Yups! Handhelds are okay for some games but these days most ones coming out are just console-lite versions of games. Thats part of what ruined Peace Walker besides going after the MH crowd. I hope these ports are fairly priced considering how old alot of them are likely to be and how most would have come out at that awful $40 price in the first place. Also they totally need to include digital copies of the game so ya can play it on your PS3 and PSP kinda like movies do.

Sony announces a few good games as "PSP exclusives" to sell psps, then drops all support for the psp and ports them to PS3.

So...wait....this is true!

YES! Dissidia here I come!

I can think of a few reasons why this happened:

Handhelds are facing serious competition by more "casual gaming" such as the iPad and Android phones.

Consoles offer better graphics and more processing power, allowing for games, like Dissidia, to have better graphics.

The PSP was never a large seller, and, the PSP Go was one of the most important nails in the coffin. Plus the fact that the games were never memorable or quite good(with the exception of Dissidia, and possibly a few others).

IDK, PSP Vita is on the way in February with it's fancy touch screen, double analog sticks, and 3G wifi. Clearly Sony isn't trying to drop out of the handheld market.

Sad thing is it's more expensive than a PS3.

Seeing this thread now kinda makes me sad cause next to nothings come from this program or whatever.

God of War PSP1
God of War PSP2
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
Monster Hunter Portable 3

Really the only one that counts is MHP3. PW was being "remade" anyway long rumored well before Sony announced PSP -> PS3 ports. The GoW games don't really count either since their save files don't work with their PSP counterparts making them closer to being full PS3 remakes then even PW. 7 months later an I haven't seen a word from any other companies about bringing any other PSP games to PS3. So I think its safe to say I do need this PSP some more!
