I thought it'd never happen, but it did, and now I will share it with you.

It is a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer.

It's really quite nice. Only a few minor blemishes, but otherwise in perfect condition. It even has a 6-CD CD changer. Handles real nicely, like a car. For a truck, it has very tight steering. It has quite a bit of pickup, too. A nice V8 engine.

Now that I have a car of my own, I can finally get a decent job. Then I can buy that Tempur-Pedic mattress and custom in-ear headphones I've been wanting. :1

I took a look at the first photo and my lips moved on their own: "Nice. :)" It looks cool, like it's brand new almost. My only concern would be gas prices, but after having visited England (where they pay the equivalent of $10 a gallon), I am reminded that we have no right to bitch. ^^;

It only gets about 20MPG. Which sucks, because gas is nearly $3/gallon here. (In early 2001, when I was working at a local gas station, it was only .89 per gallon!)

Oh, did I mention it has an all leather interior? :2

Leather gets really hot in the summer. But I shouldn't need to tell you that. ^_^;

I think my Elantra (which is now my dad's) gets like 33mpg. I forget. And gas here is ever-fluctuating between $3.15 and $3.60.

Hey now, I took what could get. My grandmother procured it for me from my uncle. (Although I am paying for it, and the insurance.)

Some more pics:

I got a chance to drive it around today. It really does handle quite tightly, and the acceleration and pickup are excellent.

All the photobucket links either say "Page Not Found" or it says the photo is private and I need to log in as you >>;;

Wow, you got ripped off. O.o; What kind of crooked petrol station did you go to? xD

Anyway, nice car, especially for one you got from a family member. Usually they only give them to relatives when it's absolutely wrecked. xd

Every station I saw was charging between テつ」0.95 and テつ」0.99 for a litre of petrol.
The テつ」-to-$ exchange ratio during my trip was always about $1.97 = テつ」1.00.
There are almost exactly 4 litres in 1 gallon. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=litre+to+gallon) I was misinformed by every British person I talked to (while there) that it's roughly 5 litres per gallon.

Doing the math ...

(テつ」0.95 per litre) x (5 litres per gallon) x ($2 per テつ」1) = $9.50, which is almost $10.00

With the correct math (thanks, Google!), it should be $7.60, and so that's what I ought to say now. English people are paying $7.60 per gallon of gasoline, while Americans are paying (literally) half that price.

If $7.60 is what you were getting too, Joe, then yeah, I can see why you were thinking I was quoting rip-off prices. But if you're getting something even lower (because the petrol in your area is a lot cheaper than テつ」0.95 per litre), then I'd like to hear it.

Well actually, my local one's only 79p per litre. Can't be bothered doing the math, but it's probably only 5-6 dollars. Probably a bit more. xd And the other local one is 87p per litre.

Then again, the prices do fluxuate across the the country, so it's not that unbelievable that they'd be charging about 90-something pence per litre.

I shoulda taken photos. -.- All I can ask now is for you to pester Arnold about Yorkshire prices. Because I swear, every petrol store I passed by (the one near Morrison's in Grimsby, the one right outside of Holten le Clay, the ones in Lincoln outside the train station) had prices from テつ」0.95 (never cheaper!) to テつ」0.99 (never quite broke the テつ」1 mark). If you have friends in Lincolnshire, you can confirm that I'm right. Because I know I'm right. :cry: -.-

Maybe Liverpool gets insanely cheap petrol prices for no good reason. ^_^; Also, it's possible that Lincolnshire (as a county) has a county tax on petrol that the county Liverpool is in does not. (Although afaik, Britain as a nation places a tax on petrol but not necessarily by county. Just speculating, though.)
