When I heard Gainax came out with a new anime, and thought of something like Eva and FLCL, I went "groan" and tried to chide the people who watched it; afterall, this show is positively ugly, the plot rotates slightly toward the dumb side of this season's anime, the Gainax fanatics were praising it before it even aired, and, of course, there was excessive fanservice.

I was shamed enough into watching it, and I've got to say...

By jove, this show is bloody incredible! If BPK thought Code Geass was fast paced, he'll barely notice that the opening ended right when the credits are rolling! I still don't care for the designs, and the plot (which hasn't appeared as of episode one) seems interesting, but the show is so out of control it's quite the ride to just watch it.

The opening, too, is probably one of the most legendary openings in the history of anime. I'm not talking about the OP, I'm talking about the first minute or so after that - going back and reflecting on that scene, I'm feeling echos of when I first discovered who Archer was. It's that exciting.

Gurren Lagann puts Geass to shame in terms of energy, but as far as cool mechs and interesting leads go, it still hasn't made much of itself as of episode one.

I highly recommend at least watching the first episode; I have no idea about anything beyond it.

I probably won't be able to obtain Golden Boy but I'll read the manga. Even then, from what you said about Geass I'm not sure if GL is your type of anime; they're sort of simmilar.

Except there's no drama in GL; it's pure, unadulterated mayhem.

I have taken the advice of this thread and checked out the first episode, and thought, "This is pretty good." I watched the next two episodes, and I have to say that this is the ultimate shiznit!

I have not seen good mayhem in a pretty long time, and this satisfies my hunger for it. None of the action scenes are half-assed like some other anime I am watching *glares at Tsubasa*. The mech fights are amazin' and the duel against this crazy dude in the tall grass was the shiznit.

I think that Jesus came back from the dead just to make this. Hell, the fact that I like this at all is beyond increadible, because I have never liked mechs. This easily takes the place of Kamichama Karin in anime I will be following. I'm not as excited as Dopple about this, but I'm sure that this will score an easy excellent in my box when I finish this.

BBB, there's also some interesting stuff people notice after watching episodes numerous times. Like how Buta wears sunglasses, being a mole-pig, and how Gurren got a makeover after episode II.

However, this is very important. Now having seen all three episodes, go back and watch the initial minute or so of episode I, right after the OP. See if you might realize something...
